puppy hometime
Bringing your puppy home is a very special moment, and we take great care to ensure both you and your puppy are fully prepared for this transition. Our Puppy Hometime process has been carefully planned to support your puppy’s emotional wellbeing, health, and confidence as they move from our home into yours.
Our puppies do not leave us until 10 weeks of age. This additional time allows them to benefit from vital learning with their mother and littermates, helping to build resilience, social skills, and emotional stability — foundations that are especially important for the Dachshund breed.
what your puppy goes home with?
Health & Veterinary Care
Your puppy will leave us having received two core vaccinations, appropriate for their age. They will also be:
-
Fully health-checked by our vet
-
Microchipped
-
Regularly wormed and flea treated
All veterinary records are provided so you can register your puppy easily with your own veterinary practice.
Puppy Pack & Documentation
Each puppy goes home with a thoughtfully prepared puppy pack, which includes:
-
Vaccination and microchip paperwork
-
Feeding guidelines and care information
-
Breed-specific advice
-
Lifetime breeder support
This pack is designed to give you clarity, reassurance, and a reliable point of reference as your puppy settles into their new home.
Puppy Hometime Hamper
To help your puppy feel safe and secure, we include a hometime hamper containing familiar items from our home, such as:
-
A comfort blanket or item with familiar scents
-
Toys your puppy already enjoys
-
A supply of their current food (Fish4Dogs)
Familiar smells and continuity in diet can greatly ease the transition and help your puppy settle more comfortably during their first days away from their litter.
Your Puppy’s First Days At Home
The first few days should be calm and unhurried. Your puppy may need time to adjust to new surroundings, sounds, and routines. We recommend keeping visitors to a minimum initially and allowing your puppy to explore their new environment at their own pace.
Establishing consistent routines around feeding, toilet breaks, sleep, and play will help your puppy feel secure. Gentle reassurance and patience go a long way during this adjustment period.
Training, Routine & Development
Your puppy will have already begun early socialisation and routine-based learning while with us. However, training is a gradual process and will continue once your puppy is home.
Dachshunds are intelligent and affectionate, but also independent thinkers. Progress may not always be linear, particularly with toilet training. Consistency, positive reinforcement, and realistic expectations are key to helping your puppy learn with confidence.
Ongoing Support
Our responsibility does not end at hometime. We are always happy to offer advice, guidance, or reassurance as your puppy grows. Whether you have questions about feeding, training, behaviour, or general care, support is always available.
